The Australian Missile Corporation Continues to Announce New Leading Australian Partners to Support the Sovereign Guided Weapons Enterprise

21 June 2021

The Australian Missile Corporation (AMC) is pleased to announce the latest signing of partners to the AMC collaboration; Air Affairs Australia and Sage. The expertise of these companies with world-leading insights will be critical to support the Australian Government as it realises its vision for a sovereign guided weapons enterprise equipped and ready to support the Australian Defence Force.

The Australian Missile Corporation was founded by NIOA, formed to facilitate collaboration between industry partners, academia, State Governments and Defence in response to the Australian Government’s call to establish a sovereign guided weapons enterprise.

Robert Nioa, CEO of NIOA and the Australian Missile Corporation welcomed the participants.

“The production of advanced weapon systems is a demanding and complex undertaking and we are keen to partner with organisations that can fabricate high-end materials and help us embed Industry 4.0 capabilities across the value chain. NIOA and the Australian Missile Corporation are pleased to be working with these partners in supporting this national endeavour.”

Chris Sievers, CEO of Air Affairs Australia, said: “We are delighted to work alongside the AMC and can provide support in flexible and adaptive manufacturing systems, metal parts fabrication, composite parts fabrication and ground support equipment manufacture.”

Andrew Downs, Founder and Executive Director of SAGE Group, said: "SAGE is excited to partner with the AMC. SAGE brings to the AMC network our deep expertise in project management, digital transformation, and design and implementation of automated manufacturing lines."

NIOA was founded in regional Queensland in 1973 and is the largest Australian-owned weapons and munitions Prime Contractor. Committed to the development of Australian sovereign capability, NIOA is investing $130m in domestic munitions and explosives manufacturing over the next five years, including a $60m artillery shell forging plant in Maryborough Queensland with joint-venture partner Rheinmetall Waffe Munitions, an upgrade of the Commonwealth’s Government-owned Benalla munitions plant in Victoria and an $11m expansion of its Brisbane warehouse and distribution facility.

Air Affairs Australia is a 100 per cent Australian-owned aviation and engineering-based organisation located on the South Coast of NSW.

SAGE delivers agile and innovative electrical control systems for the Australian Defence industry, including Defence Primes and other SMEs. SAGE is a natural partner for the AMC as they proudly embrace sector diversity, allowing cross pollination of the “best thinking” in engineering.
