The Australian Missile Corporation is pleased to announce the appointment of leading Australian business executive Tom Seymour to its Advisory Board.
Mr Seymour is the CEO of PwC Australia, leading a team of more than 800 partners and 9000 staff across PwC’s three businesses – assurance, financial advisory and consulting.
In announcing Mr Seymour’s appointment, AMC CEO Lee Goddard said: “Tom is an internationally respected business leader and strategist who will bring extensive experience and insights to the AMC.
“We are extremely fortunate to have someone of Tom’s calibre join the board at this point in time, working closely with the rest of our strategic advisors, as we deliver on this important project for our nation and the Australian Defence Force.”
The AMC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Australian munitions company NIOA, is one of three Australian-based Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) enterprise panel partners invited to work with global missile manufacturing giants Lockheed Martin and Raytheon in establishing a domestic industry.
Brisbane-based Mr Seymour caps an impressive team of strategic advisers with broad sector international experience across business, defence and government.
The AMC board is chaired by former Australian Defence Minister Christopher Pyne and includes:
- The Hon. Ellen Lord, former US Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment.
- US Army Brigadier General (Ret’d) Alfred L Abramson
- Dr Ken Anderson, former Chief Scientist, Defence Science and Technology Group, Aerospace Division
In taking up his position, Mr Seymour said: “I have been fortunate in my roles with PwC to have worked across both the public and private sectors in policy, strategy and advocacy for several decades.
“I’m looking forward to working with Lee and my fellow AMC Advisory Board members in forming the strategic direction of a company and an enterprise that will have far-reaching economic and security benefits for Australia.
“This is an exciting time for the defence industry and I am fully aligned with the AMC’s ambition to work with government to create a sovereign capability centred on responsiveness to the ADF’s needs while building an industrial ecosystem that delivers efficient and resilient supply.”
Mr Seymour has more than 25 years’ experience in business, advising on some of Australia’s largest public and private transactions.
He was previously Managing Partner of PwC Australia’s financial advisory business where he built up vast experience on taxation matters across the infrastructure, mining and energy industry sectors, making him a sought-after contributor to debates on economic reform.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queensland University of Technology, a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Bond University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
